A Complex Curve Motion Trajectory Optimization Method in CNC System

Motion trajectory planning method is an essential part in CNC system. Micro-line and spline trajectory planning methods are two types of motion planning methods in motion controller. Arc can be split into micro-lines by specific error constraints. In artifact manufacturing or complex part machining, where surface curves are highly complex, a combination of micro-line, arc, and spline segments can achieve high accuracy and shorter machining time. In this paper, a combined motion planning method is proposed for complex curves, we first use preprocessing methods to reduce real-time calculations, then proceed to trajectory generation. Asymmetrical corner transition method and symmetrical trajectory planning methods are both chosen, and we test a typical part in manufacturing, combine line-arc, arc-spline, line-arc-spline methods, by analyzing the typical shape form of the cam.
