Novel 9-Level Switched Capacitor Inverter with Reduced Components and Variable Frequency PWM

The primary objective of this research is to develop Minimal Component Switched Capacitor High-Gain 9-Level Inverter (MCSCHG9LI), which has a Unipolar Trapezoidal Variable Frequency Pulse Width Modulation (UTVFPWM) control. The key objective of this study is to overcome the constraints of typical multilayer inverters (MLIs), which include the need of bigger switches, sources, diodes, and capacitors. The proposed MCSCHG9LI comprises a single DC supply, two capacitors, eight switches, and a pair of diodes to provide nine distinct levels of output. When contrasted to other relevant inverter systems, the MCSCHG9LI requires the minimum possible of components. Additionally, employing a unipolar variable frequency multi-carrier modulation technique with a Trapezoidal reference enhances the quality of the waveforms developed. The results of MATLAB simulations are used to assess the MCSCHG9LI's overall functionality. This assessment relies upon the relatively low total harmonic distortion and high DC bus utilization achieved by successful utilization of a variety of UTVFPWM controls and modulation indices.
