A Dielectric Resonator Antenna with a Complementary Split Ring Resonator Ground Structure for the Ku Band

In this study, a Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) with a Complementary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR) ground structure is described and measured for the Ku band. The antenna features a circular dielectric resonator sitting above a FR4 epoxy substrate, as well as a circular ground plane aperture. With a radiation gain of 7.51 dB and a return loss (S11) of-44.2976 dB, it has a centralized origin at the resonating frequency of 15.38 GHz. Over 2.72 GHz of impedance bandwidth is reported, which is incredibly wide. A comparison of this antenna’s performance with that of the Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) without Complementary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR) ground structure has been made.The suggested design has better features than a Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) without a Complementary Split Ring Resonator (CSRR). We also have a great improvement in S11, which indicates perfect impedance matching, but a minor drop in Gain. We are appropriate for high-frequency satellite and radar communications using the Ku band despite our extremely small size (45mm).
