Odd-Even Static Reconfiguration Technique for Partially Shaded Solar PV Panels

This paper proposes an Odd-Even (OE) static reconfiguration method for partial shading conditions (PSC) that improves the power and performance of solar photovoltaic (SPV) arrays. Partial shading of a Solar Photo-Voltaic array can occur often, which can cause uneven row current and a local maximum power point on the Power-Voltage (PV) characteristics. The array reconfiguration techniques are a useful tool for reducing the effect of partial shading. The selected 4×4 and 4×6 SPV array's modules are electrically connected in a total cross-tied (TCT) configuration, but they have been moved inside the array using the proposed OE reconfiguration method. The study examines and contrasts the suggested plan with the two main SPV array topologies, which are series-parallel (SP) and total-cross-tied (TCT) for the evaluation of performance. The SPV array experiences a redistribution of shade as a result of the proposed method. The basic series and parallel configurations have not been taken into consideration for this research because of the lower output current and voltage. The SPV array performs better with the suggested technique thanks to its increased peak power, decreased shading losses, enhanced fill factor and execution ratio, and smooth output characteristics. By using the suggested method, the researchers may create a less complicated controller that tracks the peak power of the SPV array under PSCs.
