Influence of Meteorological Variables on Air Quality in Sofia, Bulgaria

Air pollution in densely populated cities is major problem affecting to the human health and ecosystems. The high levels of PM can cause serious damage over various diseases. The current study investigated two of the most polluted district in capital city of Bulgaria, Sofia. A correlation analysis of particulate matter PM10 and their relationship with the temperature and humidity was conducted. The Pearson's correlation coefficients by seasons were calculated. The distributions of PM10 by seasons were obtained and a comparative analysis for the two districts of Sofia was made.
