Daisy-Chained Sensor Architecture for Cost-Efficient Linear Motion Systems

In this paper, we propose a simple and low-cost method to control multiple Hall sensor boards in a Linear Motion System (LMS). In the return section of the system, precise position control is not required. So, we use only one inverter board to read data from several sensor boards using a daisy-chain connection. This design helps reduce the cost and makes the system easier to build. However, speed errors can happen when the carrier moves from one sensor board to another. To resolve this problem, we use linear interpolation and third-order polynomial interpolation. Experimental results show the validity of the proposed method.
