A Dual-MPU BLE Anchor for Indoor Asset Tracking with Over-the-Air Upgrade Capability

This paper presents the design and implementation of a Bluetooth Low Energy anchor for indoor asset tracking, with a focus on an efficient Over-The-Air upgrade mechanism for dual-microcontroller-processing-unit systems. The proposed system enables large-scale deployment, supporting networked Over-The-Air upgrades for over 500 anchors simultaneously. A key innovation is the synchronized upgrade process for dual microcontroller processing units, ensuring reliability, minimal downtime, and consistent firmware integrity across all devices. We detail the hardware architecture, network communication protocols, and upgrade strategy, demonstrating the system robustness and scalability. Experimental evaluations validate the efficiency, security, and performance of the Over-The-Air upgrade mechanism in real-world tracking environments.
