An Empirical Study on a Teaching Augmentation System Based on Augmented Reality and Facial Recognition

The aim of this study is to investigate the user experience of facial recognition and augmented reality (AR) applications in classroom settings. An augmented reality application integrated with a facial recognition module was developed and deployed on a HoloLens 2 to assist teachers in the classroom through features such as student facial recognition and information review. After using these functions during lessons, post-class surveys were conducted to gather students' perceptions of the AR teaching system and teachers' views on its practical application in educational contexts. The results indicate that both teachers and students reported positive experiences and expressed a willingness to continue using the system in future lessons. Participants also proposed suggestions to avoid disruptions to the teaching flow and to enhance the application's usability.
