Evaluating Efficiency of Advanced Encryption Algorithms for Cloud Data Security

Background: With the rise of cloud storage, ensuring data security remains a challenge. Traditional encryption methods often trade off security for performance. This paper presents an Automated Encryption/Decryption System (AEDS) that integrates Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), SHA-3, Dynamic AES (DAES), and DES encryption for enhanced security. Methodology: AEDS employs a Random Key Generator (RKG) for secure key generation, protected by a dual-encryption mechanism. Security is further strengthened using padding, salting, and hash validation. Decryption ensures data integrity through hash comparisons. Performance was tested in a controlled environment. Results: Encryption time increased with data size: $2.31 \mathrm{~ms}(1 \mathrm{~KB}), 6.85 \mathrm{~ms}(10 \mathrm{~KB})$, and 28.92 ms (100 KB). AEDS showed $26.4 \%$ higher encryption time and $31.7 \%$ higher decryption time than BH-WABE but offered stronger security. Conclusion: AEDS provides a robust security framework for cloud storage, balancing computational efficiency and cryptographic strength, making it a reliable solution for secure data storage.
