A Wideband Dual-Polarized 1-Bit Reconfigurable Reflect-Array With Independent Control at X-Band

A wideband dual-polarized 1-bit reconfigurable reflect-array (RRA) is proposed for wide-angle beam steering. Four PIN diodes are integrated into each RRA cell, offering a wideband 1-bit phase-shifting capability for two orthogonal polarizations independently. The RRA cell is fabricated and measured based on a waveguide simulator, and the experimental results are in good agreement with the simulation. Moreover, an RRA with 20 × 20 cells is designed and simulated, achieving a 3-dB peak gain bandwidth of 36% as well as a wide-angle dual-polarized beam scanning coverage up to ±60°. The proposed RRA demonstrates strong applicability for modern radar and wireless communication systems.
