Energy Saving Prototype in a Smart-car System

The focus of the project in work is making an energy saving prototype for smart car systems by using the kinetic energy generated by the wind intersecting with the front of a car, also known as drag, to rotate a propeller attached to a PMDC (Permanent Magnet Direct Current Motor) and transform this kinetic energy to electrical current. This electrical energy is stored in a battery and will be the power source of a camera system for safety measures in a car. The safety system consists of an ultrasonic sensor, which is triggered when an object is sensed at a preset distance. Using an Arduino Uno, the camera system is simulated using an LCD screen, which displays a message when the ultrasonic sensor is triggered. The system also contains a safety measure for the overheating of the battery which, using four different colored LEDs, shows the current state of the temperature compared to the nominal functioning temperature of the lithium-ion battery. The system is charging when the vehicle is in motion and would use the energy of the battery when the car is stopped and parked, to ensure a safer experience by documenting and recording any potential activity happening in proximity of the unattended car.
