Optimal Design of a 5V LDO Controller in 180nm CMOS Technology Using a Genetic Algorithm

Our paper represents a low-dropout LDO voltage regulator optimized to maximize energy efficiency and transient performance, with input voltage equal to output voltage (5 V), guaranteeing minimum voltage loss. Optimization involves the integration of a genetic algorithm (GA) that dynamically adjusts critical parameters such as MOS transistor size, load resistance, and compensation capacitance. With this approach, it is possible to achieve a fast and accurate response within a reasonable time while reducing power consumption. We used Cadence Virtuoso software to run simulations using 180nm CMOS technology. The optimization resulted in a significant improvement in transient performance, as evidenced by the simulations carried out.
