Land Mobile Communication at High Frequency, Very High Frequency, and Ultrahigh Frequency

Land mobile radio (LMR) basics, technology, and general use are reviewed here. Starting with the early history of high-frequency (HF)/very HF (VHF)/ultra-HF (UHF) communications, which were mostly limited by the technology available at the time, progression in LMR communications from basic analog to digital and space age, and coexistence with evolving wireless standards, are reviewed, with a focus on public and unlicensed space.
