Digital Mapping, Map Presentations, Cartography, and Geographic Information Sharing – A Summary

This chapter summarizes the fundamentals of digital cartography and mapmaking. Principles of symbology, color, and color schemes are illustrated for general mapping purposes. Then, thematic mapping using different types of attributes in geographic information systems (GIS) database is discussed. Symbolizing methods of vector data and raster data on digital maps are illustrated. Finally, layout view and internet sharing of digital maps in ArcGIS Pro environment is discussed in the chapter.
