Development of Integrated STEM Modules to Enhance Students’ Confidence in Learning Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Additional Mathematics

This study developed an integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) module that incorporated the curriculum of science stream subjects into practical activities. The integration of scientific disciplines like biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics allows students to engage in interdisciplinary learning. The approach enables them to comprehend the connections that exist among the various disciplines of study. The modules can be employed in both indoor and outdoor settings, and most of the materials are conventional common items. The pilot implementation of the integrated STEM modules among 23 secondary school students demonstrates a significant increase in their confidence level in learning physics, chemistry, and biology ($\mathbf{p}\lt0.05$). Nonetheless, there are no alterations in the confidence level regarding learning additional mathematics. Teachers can utilize the integrated STEM modules both in the classroom and in the school’s outdoor setting.
