Development of an Electrical Technology Curriculum for Bachelor’s Degree Programs within the Outcome-Based Education (OBE)

This study presents the development of a revised bachelor’s degree curriculum in Electrical Technology guided by the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework, with a focus on aligning graduate competencies with labor market demands and global competitiveness. The research employed a needs analysis methodology involving 78 key stakeholders including students, instructors, employers, and graduate users—to identify the essential competencies and skills required for the electrical technology profession. Results revealed that high-priority competencies include ethical and moral integrity, electrical system design, intensive electrical skills, digital literacy, interdisciplinary application, IoT integration, and problem-solving in complex environments. These insights directly shaped the curriculum’s learning outcomes, categorized into General Education Learning Outcomes (GELOs), Specific Learning Outcomes (SLOs), and Year-Level Outcomes (YLOs), ensuring a holistic balance of technical, cognitive, and behavioral skills. The curriculum structure integrates stakeholder expectations with the strategic development plan of the Institute of Vocational Education Central Region 3 (2024–2028), which emphasizes workforce readiness, technological innovation, and sustainable development. Instructional design and learning activities were restructured to foster digital competence, leadership, critical thinking, and adaptability, in alignment with national qualification standards and the region’s vocational development goals. The resulting curriculum not only supports graduate employability and professional growth but also enhances Thailand’s capacity to respond to industry transformation and global challenges in the electrical technology sector.
