Concurrent Dual-Band Dual-Output Four-Stage Doherty Power Amplifier at 2.1/2.6 GHz Delivering 60 + 60 W Average Power With 50% Efficiency

This article introduces a dual-band power amplifier (PA) architecture that enables dynamic power sharing and band-specific microsleep functionality. These capabilities are realized through a shared wideband auxiliary amplifier operating alongside two single-band main amplifiers, forming a dual-band three-stage Doherty PA (DPA). A prototype of this architecture is implemented and experimentally characterized, demonstrating peak output power levels of $57.4\,\pm \,0.4\,\text {dBm}$ for Band1 (2.11−2.17GHz) and $57\,\pm \,0.2\,\text {dBm}$ for Band7 (2.62−2.69GHz). At 9dB back-off, measured drain efficiencies are 58%–63% for Band1 and 56%–58% for Band7. Concurrent dual-band linearized measurements using 20MHz new radio (NR) signals with a 7.5dB peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) confirm excellent linearity and demonstrate dynamic power-sharing capability of the proposed architecture.
