Low-Complexity DSP Algorithms for Mode Vector Modulation Direct-Detection Receivers

Mode Vector Modulation (MVM) is a new modulation format for scalable and spectrally-efficient optical interconnects employing high-sensitivity direct-detection receivers intended for hyperscale datacenters using multimode/multicore fibers. This invited paper examines several novel mode-tracking DSP algorithms for direct-detection MVM receivers, showing their effectiveness in counteracting modal crosstalk in short links.
