Lean Manufacturing, Optimizing High-Performance Production Systems in Industries Using Takt Time

In the industrial context, organizations are constantly faced with the need to improve their performance on an ongoing basis, while rationalizing their resources to remain competitive in a complex market[1]. To this end, the deployment of Lean Manufacturing is a recognized lever for obtaining the best performance on a long-term basis, as is the improvement approach originating from the Japanese Toyota automotive industry, which advocates the elimination of waste and lean production[2] focusing on the principle of just-in-time and balancing. By giving examples, this article proposes preventive and corrective actions, and upgrades have been proposed and implemented to guarantee high performance, by balancing workstations while respecting the Takt time already calculated, in order to eliminate any kind of waste, and optimize throughput. Finally, we mentioned the main technologies emerging from Industry 4.0, and the correlation between these and lean manufacturing principles.
