Responsible Sourcing in Morocco: A Theoretical Framework

This research paper portrays a theoretical framework for weighing the implementation of responsible sourcing strategies in the kingdom of Morocco, a developing nation with increasing sustainability initiatives. Anchoring on both neo-institutional and stakeholder theories, the analysis distinguishes key obstacles, enablers, moderators and mediators affecting the adoption of responsible sourcing in Morocco. The model encompasses elements such as organizational capabilities, stakeholder demands, legal frameworks, and technical advancements, while taking into consideration the dynamics of both domestic and international commerce. The analysis is concluded by offering both practical and academic insights by highlighting the necessity for collaboration of different stakeholders, targeted support for companies and more rigid implementations of governmental guidelines. Future empirical validation is recommended to adapt the framework across sectors and emerging markets.
