Mathematical Model of Test Fires During Certification of Smoke Detectors

The development of organizational and technical measures to detect and prevent fires is one of the key aspects of ensuring human life and preserving material values. Detection of fires in the initial stages is carried out with the help of thermal detectors, smoke detectors, flame detectors, and others. The specified feature imposes the requirements on fire detectors in terms of reliability of operation, accuracy, and efficiency of fire detection. Verification of established requirements is carried out during certification tests. This paper concentrates on the development of a mathematical model of all types of test fires used in the certification of smoke detectors. At the same time, the equations for the dependence of the parameters of the sensors’ operation on the combustion conditions were determined. Based on the developed mathematical model, recommendations for the methodology of conducting certification tests of smoke detectors were formulated.
