B.A.S.I.L. Sandwich Multi-Frequency Inductive Slip Ring Design

From radars to turbines, many electrical systems use a conductive slip ring to maintain a closed conductive path while allowing rotational freedom for moving parts. However, for sensitive electronics, vibration and friction between the contacts can cause noise or disconnects that compromise the system’s integrity. Well-designed inductively coupled slip rings are capable of efficient power transfer at one resonant frequency. We find that a multi-coil wireless power transfer (WPT) system via inductive slip rings is capable of power transfer at two frequencies with negligible drawbacks.
