Optimization of X-ray Energy for XRF Applications Using Dual LiTaO3 Pyroelectric Crys

Pyroelectric crystals like lithium tantalate (LiTaO3) and lithium niobate (LiNbO3) can act as vacuum electron sources for X-ray generation through temperature-induced spontaneous polarization under low-pressure conditions. This process ionizes residual gas, emitting and accelerating electrons to produce X-rays when directed at a target. This study aimed to enhance X-ray energy and output intensity for X-ray fluorescence (XRF) applications using a dual-crystal setup. The presented results shows increase in X-ray yield with the dual-crystal setup, demonstrating the effectiveness of combining two crystals for more efficient X-ray generation. This approach offers improvements for XRF applications.
