Multiple Slow-Time Cross Ambiguity Functions Synthesis for Probing Range Zones

This paper focuses on multiple slow-time cross ambiguity functions (CAFs) shaping for probing range zones through the design of radar slow-time code and receiver filters to mitigate disturbance power. Two transceiver optimization strategies are introduced: the first relies on the average disturbance power across all potential range zones, while the second considers the maximum interference power within the range zones. Besides, energy, modulus, and signal-to-noise ratio loss restrictions are incorporated into the transceivers design to ensure amplifiers compatibility and low loss of processing gain. To handle both design paradigms, an optimization framework based on alternating direction penalty method (ADPM) with guaranteed convergence is developed. The subproblems in each iteration for the average design are solved with closed-form solutions, whereas the worst-case design employs a nested iterative approach that integrates majorization-minimization with the alternating direction method of multipliers to update the radar code. Finally, numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed methods for detecting targets located within uncertain range zones.
