Effect of Multirate Sampling on Synthetic Target Doppler Velocity

In the field of automotive radar sensors, the primary methods for target simulation can be categorized into two types: analog and digital. The taxonomy is determined by the method of signal processing. For digital simulators, there is a new promising technique called multirate. It is based on different sample clock frequencies for ADC and DAC. The paper evaluates the effect of this technique on the synthetic target Doppler velocity. The multirate sampling effect, as theoretically predicted, is further confirmed through experimental assessments. The experiments are performed using multirate implementation into the FPGA based digital radar target simulator. Measurements are performed using an FMCW radar sensor.
