Research on the Selection of Cable Cross Section for High Voltage Motor Circuit

In the power supply and distribution system of large high-voltage motors, the rated operation of the motor is mostly powered by power cables. The cable power supply needs to meet the requirements of rated load current, cable thermal stability, voltage drop, etc. This article analyzes the specific laying method, environmental temperature, fault time, short-circuit current, thermal stability coefficient, load power factor, and load size that need to be considered when selecting the cable section for high-voltage motors in the power system from three aspects: meeting the cable current carrying capacity, thermal stability calculation, and cable voltage drop requirements. Combined with actual cases, specific analysis is carried out to provide calculation methods and data support for practitioners in the power system industry to choose the cable section for high-voltage motor circuits in the design of power supply and distribution systems.
