Thermal Analysis on 3.5 MHU Rotating Anode X-Ray

The X-ray tube is a critical component of a Computed Tomography (CT) machine. During the process of X-ray generation, a significant amount of heat is produced. Overheating can lead to thermal deformation, which can disrupt the normal operation of the CT machine. Therefore, designing an X-ray tube with high heat capacity is essential. This paper presents a comprehensive thermal analysis of a 3.5 MHU X-ray tube equipped with liquid metal sliding bearings. Firstly, the 3D geometric model of the X-ray tube was established using SolidWorks software. Based on the operating principles and conditions of the X-ray tube, appropriate boundary conditions were set, and steady-state thermal radiation simulation was performed using ANSYS software. Then, numerical calculations were carried out using MA TLAB to verify the reliability of the simulation model. The simulation results demonstrated the temperature field distribution within the X-ray tube after introducing cooling oil into the anode shaft system. Further thermal-structural analysis was conducted on the thermal strain of the shaft system. This study provides important theoretical and practical guidance for the thermal design of X-ray tubes.
