Analysis of ACB Factor and Dynamic Time-Preamble Table Methods for Random Access

We define a capacity function in this paper to measure the maximum utility of the preambles. It is shown that the ACB (access class barring) factor method cannot reach the full capacity but a scaled capacity. Moreover, we propose a dynamic time-preamble method for random access, which is equivalent to the ACB factor technique in achieving the performance of throughput but better adapts to dynamic network scenarios.
