Arc Plasma Circuit System Performance Analysis

As an effective means to generate thermal plasma, the arc plasma torch has a wide range of applications in aerospace, energy, environmental protection, material processing and other industrial fields. In order to obtain the power distribution of the entire circuit system during the operation of an arc plasma torch, a simulation model was constructed and the parameters of the transformer, reactor, and busbar were analyzed in detail. The electrical energy loss and heating efficiency of each component of the circuit system during the arc generation process was analyzed. The simulation results show that with the increase of the trigger angle, the transformer loss and the total busbar loss are both reduced, the main circuit efficiency and load power are correspondingly reduced, the sinusoidal degree of the current waveform is slightly deteriorated, but the overall harmonic is still within an acceptable range. However, the power factor is significantly affected by the trigger angle. The larger the trigger angle, the lower the power factor.
