A Decentralized Power Sharing Control for Hybrid PMSG/Supercapacitor Electric Power System in More Electric Aircraft

This paper proposes a decentralized power sharing control for the hybrid electric power system consists of generators and supercapacitors (SCs) in more electric aircraft (MEA). The proposed method enables autonomous load power sharing among generators and SC units under various operating conditions. First, the generator is designated as a virtual resistor control to provide steady-state power, while the SC is assigned as virtual capacitance control to compensate for high-frequency fluctuations, achieving coordinated operation of electric power system. Second, a detailed parameter design procedure is provided to improve the feasibility of the load power sharing method. Besides, the control parameters design guidelines for the expansion of power supply units are also introduced. Finally, simulations tests confirm the effectiveness and reliability of the proposed power sharing approach under normal and typical fault conditions.
