An H-Bridge based Diode Clamping Switched SHCB with Bi-directional Interruption and Residual Energy Recuperation Ability

DC fault isolation and protection technology with DC circuit breakers (DCCBs) is the firewall of flexible DC interconnected distribution network, which is an important guarantee for high reliability, safety and stable power supply of flexible interconnected distribution network. In this paper, an H-bridge based series-type hybrid circuit breaker using diode clamping switching with bi-directional interruption and residual energy recuperation is presented (H-SHCB). The proposed H-SHCB modulates the fault current through a voltage injection (VI) circuit, and it employs a diode clamping switching, thus providing zero-voltage situation (ZVS) and low-current situation (LCS) for the disconnecting of the mechanical switch (MS). In addition, bi-directional fault breaking and residual energy recycling can be implemented, enabling the proposed H-SHCB the ability to continuously clear faults. A prototype of 100V/9A is constructed in this paper, and the results show that the proposed H-SHCB is able to realize fast bi-directional faults breaking and the residual energy can be recycled to recharge the capacitor.
