Payload Mounting and Separation of UAV Based on Electro-Permanent Magnetic Chucks

Electro-permanent magnetic chucks show promising potential for application in the field of UAV payload transportation. This technology is characterized by high efficiency, energy-saving properties, safety, and reliability. In this paper, A payload mounting and separation of UAV technology based on electro-permanent magnetic chucks is proposed. During the release and separation of process, the attitude and trajectory of payload is influenced by gravity, magnetic force, and aerodynamic force. To investigate the safety of the payload separation process, the separation process is simulated for both single and dual chuck configurations. The configuration and connection methods of electro-permanent magnetic chucks is introduced. The dynamic model for payload separation is established to detect the attitude and trajectory of payload. Separation strategy with single attachment point and dual attachment points are investigated, the simulation of the payload separation process are carried out via ADAMS software. The simulation results demonstrated that both separation strategies achieved the mounting and safe separation of payloads. The dual attachment point strategy exhibited a significant advantage in terms of axial separation distance.
