Particle-in-Cell Simulations of a Slow-Wave Structure with Resonant Reflector for an X-Band Relativistic Backward-Wave Oscillator: Part 3 of 3

PIC simulations of an X-band Relativistic Backward-Wave Oscillator (BWO) driven by the high-current, high-voltage SI-NUS-6 accelerator are performed using the CST-PS particle-in-cell (PIC) code. A simplified model of the BWO consists of a resonant reflector and slow-wave structure (SWS) without the cathode - source generating the electron beam. Results of PIC simulations show that the BWO oscillates at frequency ~10.4 GHz and produces an average flow of microwave power ~700 MW. The calculated frequency of microwave oscillations is in good agreement with the experimentally measured using the SINUS-6 accelerator, ~10.3 GHz.
