A Dual-Stage Interleaved SIMO Buck-Boost Modular DC–DC Converter With Zero Cross-Regulation

This article proposes a single-inductor multiple-output (SIMO) buck-boost modular dc–dc converter featuring dual-stage interleaving and zero cross-regulation. The proposed architecture addresses the limitations of traditional SIMO topologies, which often face cross-regulation and increased ripple due to the lack of interleaving. This converter employs a single half-bridge (HB) module at the input for inductor current control, resulting in zero cross-regulation operation across multiple outputs. The output stage consists of series-connected HB modules, enabling independent voltage regulation for each output. This configuration enables an additional phase shift between the carriers of the input and output HB modules, along with the phase shift between the output HB carriers, which significantly reduces ripple and improves efficiency. Small-signal transfer functions are derived using the circuit averaging technique, providing a solid foundation for controller design. A 200 W, 2 kHz experimental prototype is developed to verify the theoretical model and control strategy, with real-time gating signals generated by a TMS320F28379D DSP controller. Experimental results show that the converter achieves a high efficiency of 95.1%, with excellent regulation and significantly reduced ripple under various load conditions. A detailed comparison with existing SIMO converters highlights the superior performance of the proposed topology, making it ideal for applications requiring efficient, multioutput power regulation.
