The Effects of Laser Parameters on Signal Quality in Distributed Acoustic Sensing Systems

Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) is a widely used technology that utilizes fiber optic sensors to detect environmental vibrations. The performance of DAS systems is significantly influenced by the characteristics of the laser source, particularly in terms of detection sensitivity, signal quality, frequency stability, noise level, and linewidth. This study investigates the impact of two different narrow-linewidth laser sources on detection range, signal-to-noise ratio, and environmental sensitivity. By analyzing key optical parameters such as frequency noise, side-mode suppression ratio, and output power, the performance of these laser sources in DAS applications is evaluated. The findings highlight the importance of selecting an appropriate laser source to enhance detection accuracy and system reliability.
