Design and Feasibility Study of Transverse-flux Double-sided Linear Induction Motor

A detailed study, design of transverse flux doublesided linear induction motor (TF-DSLIM) and its 3D FEM analysis has been presented in this paper. A TF-DSLIM using E-core has been fabricated and validated using finite element method (FEM) and the test results. Static thrust force has been recorded at different operating frequencies. The test results has been verified with the simulation results. The losses are also calculated. Further as a linear motor, DSLIM integrates propulsion into a single mechanism. Thus this work has achieved a comparatively better stability for electrodynamic system. This study will give a detailed knowledge on the design of TF-DSLIM for possible use in Hyperloop system. The DSLIM can also be used for propulsion in Hyperloop system, thruster, factory automation, electromagnetic launchers and Electromagnetic aircraft launching etc.
