Automatic Discovery of Q-BIC Metasurfaces with Diffusion Models

Optical metasurfaces enable advanced manipulation of complex light fields via engineered resonant sub-wavelength structures. All-dielectric metasurfaces with distinct spectral fingerprints and low optical losses hold immense promises for next-generation high-dimensional photodetectors [1], specifically hyperspectral imagers [2]. In pursuit of diverse spectral signatures, asymmetric metasurfaces with in-plane broken symmetries have emerged as intriguing candidates with unparalleled resolution [3]. In particular, their high-quality resonances originating from quasi-bound-states-in-the-continuum (q-BIC) unlock novel degrees of freedom for precise control over spectral responses in the visible to near-infrared (Vis-NIR) band.
