Optical Wavefront Shaping and Extinction on Small Particles, Clusters, and 3D Finite Samples

In wavefront shaping (WFS), the amplitudes and phases of incident waves are spatially shaped by spatial light modulators to meet an a priori defined target, like an enhanced bright target spot in an otherwise chaotic speckle pattern [1]–[3]. To date, most WFS studies are done on quasi-infinitely extended and opaque samples, where extinction is absent in the far field. Therefore, we aim to extend the study of the interaction of light and matter including WFS to the large classes of materials and objects that are finite in all three dimensions (3D).
