Digital Twin Maturity Models: Application to a Case Study

Digital Twins are an emerging concept involving the creation of digital constructs that mirror real-world systems. Assessing Digital Twins' maturity is crucial for unlocking their full potential; however, existing Digital Twins Maturity Models are predominantly qualitative and lack comprehensive quantitative depth. This paper provides an overview of current Maturity Models and applies two distinct approaches: a hybrid qualitative-focused model and a hybrid quantitative-focused model, to two Portuguese enterprises in the textile sector. It provides a critical comparative analysis of the results obtained from these models and introduces a novel metric, the Priority Ratio, designed to reduce subjectivity in assessing the improvement worthiness of Digital Twin components. The PR offers a rigorous, quantifiable ranking of rubrics for improvement, aiding in the prioritization of areas for Digital Twin enhancement.
