ARTEMIS: Adaptive Real-Time Task Execution & Management in Heterogeneous Systems

This paper introduces ARTEMIS (Adaptive Task Execution and management in Heterogeneous Systems), a novel scheduling mechanism designed to enhance adaptability in mixed-criticality environments. To evaluate ARTEMIS, we implemented a proof-of-concept prototype in VxSim, the VxWorks simulator. Preliminary results demonstrate significant improvements over the baseline VxWorks scheduler, particularly under high-load conditions. Future work will focus on hardware validation, optimizing task migration heuristics, and integrating energy-efficient scheduling strategies for real-world deployments.
