A New Vehicular Warning System by Using 8-PSK Modulation Scheme Within an FM Radio Broadcast

In this paper a new warning system used to increase the drivers' safety, implemented by using 8-PSK modulation scheme, within an FM radio broadcast has been presented. The proposed software-defined radio communication system is able to transmit color images with $100 \times 300$ pixels in subsidiary FM bands, simultaneously with a standard FM radio transmission. The proposed radio communication system has been implemented in Matlab/Simulink and provides a data rate of 57 kbits/sec. The experimental results were obtained under laboratory conditions by performing the radio transmission in the ISM bands on a carrier frequency of 868 MHz, using USRP type devices.
