A New Microstrip-Matched Π-Type Attenuator

This letter presents a microstrip-matched $\Pi $ -type attenuator designed to address the parasitic effects and performance instability issues typically encountered in traditional attenuators for high-frequency applications. By replacing the traditional series resistors with a microstrip line, the design significantly reduces parasitic effects, improves high-frequency performance, and extends the operational frequency range of the attenuator while enhancing its stability and consistency under high-frequency conditions. In addition, the microstrip line can be further optimized into a three-section matching structure, where the resistor values and impedance parameters are fine-tuned to extend the bandwidth, ensuring the design flexibility and adaptability of the attenuator. Compared to existing technologies, this design offers a simpler structure and manufacturing process, making it suitable for various microwave and high-frequency circuits, with broad application potential.
