Synchronized Switches and Connected Electrical Consumers Based on Network of Things: A Pilot Project

This paper presents the implementation process of a non-expensive software-controlled, wirelessly connected electrical consumers and synchronized switches (known as synched-switches) at low-voltage level. The proposed scheme allows to configure connections of a group of switches to control a given electrical consumer, where it tangibly reduces the complexity of indoor wiring. In implemented project, each of the synched-switches are motorized to present the same status. The synch-switches are controlled using an Android app, where it logs the openclose status of each switch, independently. Each switch employs a 3D printed enclosure, with an embedded ESP32 WiFi-enabled microcontroller. Each microcontroller board is equipped with a patch antenna with specific radiation pattern. The test results supports the practical application of the non-expensive implementation.
