Design and Simulation of AI based Threat-Detecting Robot for Empowering Border Security

Border security is essential for a nation’s sovereignty, and this issue has been addressed by deploying soldiers near these regions. However, this method can lead to inefficient use of the workforce and an increased risk of loss of soldier’s life. To minimize the loss of life and workforce in border areas, we aim to propose an AI-equipped border security robot to detect potential threats. This model is equipped with an AI model to detect potential threats, such as weapons, caves, and people during movement. The robot uses an object detection model to analyze its surrounding area and sends this information to a central computer for manual control. The robot has two different movement functions: the first function will enable it to move using wheels, while the second utilizes a legged system for movement. If the robot detects a potential threat using its object detection model, it notifies the central computer and sends photos of the detected objects. When the robot is operated from the main control center and approaches a cave, it can release a spy robot module attached to it. This released spy robot is equipped with a camera to transmit images from inside the cave. By using this module, the robot can gather information about terrorist hideouts and other threats in border regions without deploying soldiers. We believe that the proposed model will help reduce the risk of loss of life soldier’s during operations borders.
