Developing a Data-Driven Dashboard for Monitoring and Evaluating Research and Community Service in Higher Education

Universities are required to conduct research and provide community service in addition to their teaching responsibilities. These responsibilities must be carried out effectively to enhance the overall performance of higher education institutions. However, some universities have not optimally implemented research and community service, often deviating from institutional goals due to inadequate monitoring and evaluation processes. Therefore, a data-driven dashboard is necessary to support the monitoring and evaluation of research and community service, with data presentation aligned with the university’s objectives. This requires a well-designed dashboard method, one of which is the Visual Information Seeking Mantra (VISM). However, VISM 2.0 still has some limitations that need to be addressed, necessitating improvements and enhancements to VISM 2.0 to become VISM 3.0. The development of VISM 3.0 was carried out using the Design Science Research (DSRM) methodology. Based on testing results using the Post-Study System Usability Questionnaire (PSSUQ), stakeholder satisfaction levels are very high, with a score of $\mathbf{1. 9 0}$ for System Usefulness (SysUse), 2.07 for Information Quality (InfoQual), $\mathbf{2. 2 0}$ for Interface Quality (IntQual), and $\mathbf{2. 6 2}$ overall. This indicates that VISM 3.0 is a better dashboard design framework compared to VISM 2.0, which has not undergone validation measurement. Thus, developers can implement VISM 3.0 to create dashboards that align with data provision and organizational goals.
