A Comprehensive Review on the Optimization Strategies of Integrated Energy Systems with Hydrogen Energy

Integrated energy systems with hydrogen technology (IES-H2) utilize hydrogen as an efficient and sustainable storage medium, significantly enhancing system stability, economy, and reliability. This paper reviews the current state of research on the operational optimization of integrated energy systems with hydrogen technology, analyzes the role of hydrogen in the system and the energy conversion processes, and classifies IES- H2 into three categories based on the final output energy form: electricity output, hydrogen output, and multiple energy output systems. The paper further summarizes the selection of different optimization objectives, including economic, environmental, reliability, and social aspects, and discusses the application of various optimization methods, such as traditional methods, heuristic methods, machine learning techniques, and robust optimization, in the operational optimization and capacity configuration of integrated energy systems with hydrogen technology. These discussions provide a comprehensive understanding of the current challenges and advancements in IESH2 optimization, offering valuable insights for future research and practical applications. By systematically classifying system types and summarizing optimization objectives and methods, this paper serves as a reference for designing more efficient and resilient IESH2.
