Multi-Tag Screening Strategy for Emergency Communication Localization

As passive IoT scenarios receive increasing attention, the application of UHF RFID technology in various contexts continues to expand. In emergency communications, the use of UHF RFID technology can provide agile and reliable support in complex rescue scenarios, which is significant for disaster response strategies. However, when detecting groups of tags, different application scenarios may exhibit distinct signal characteristics, and many challenges remain to be addressed. Particularly in emergency communications, the need for real-time responses has shifted the focus from static to dynamic scenarios and from inefficient single-tag detection to efficient multi-antenna, multi-tag joint detection. In light of this, this paper focuses on the use of UHF RFID technology to develop a joint decision-making method. This method leverages the environment of multi-antenna deployment to determine the sequence of moving tag queues and to find out tags moving side by side for identity identification. After extensive experiments and research, it has been demonstrated that the joint decision-making method can achieve high accuracy and adapt to very low tag spacing, with the distance between the front and back of the test tags being as low as 4.1 cm. And the antenna transmit power is as low as 20 dbm, which is lower than the value in most industrial scenarios.
