AI-Driven Cabin Monitoring System for Enhancing Safety and Comfort in Autonomous Vehicles: A Review

Integration of artificial intelligence in self-driving vehicles, which is largely being developed on autonomous vehicles (AVs), has revolutionarized different perspectives of the operation of the vehicles, particularly focusing on safety aspects and the use experience of individuals. This report deals with AI-based cabin monitoring for self-driven vehicles. Advanced AI techniques such as computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning allow the system to continuously monitor vehicle cabin environment conditions regarding the driver and passenger’s well-being, as well as the status of the vehicle itself. Factors include occupancy, posture, fatigue detection, and cabin environment overall. The system sends real-time alerts and interventions and improves safety, comfort, and security with respect to AVs. This paper discusses the design, implementation, and performance evaluation of the cabin monitoring system, highlighting its effectiveness in mitigating risks and improving the overall driving experience in autonomous environments.
