Bridge to Real Environment with Hardware-in-the-loop for Wireless Artificial Intelligence Paradigms

Nowadays, it is common to evaluate machine learning (ML) solutions that improve wireless standard IEEE802.11p for Vehicular Adhoc Networks (VANET) in a simulated world. This approach is cost-effective compared to real-world testing. Nevertheless, when deploying new solutions in an environment such as VANET, there is a high-cost investment to buy new vehicles. And the risk of unexpected outcomes is higher. To mitigate this issue of high cost, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) is the way to move forward, enabling the opportunity to test in the real and simulated worlds together. Therefore, we have developed what we believe is the pioneering HIL for testing artificial intelligence (AI), multiple services, and HD map data (LiDAR) in both simulated and real-world settings.
