Full-Range Soft-Switching Realization of Single Stage on Board Charger

The rapid adoption of electric vehicles has sparked intense interest in on board chargers. While traditional two-stage power conversion topologies have been widely used, single-stage designs offer huge advantages in both efficiency and power density through their streamlined architecture and reduced component count. This paper introduces a novel single-stage topology based on the dual active bridge (DAB) converter. We present a comprehensive theoretical analysis of zero-voltage switching (ZVS) conditions across four operating modes, ensuring ZVS for all switches. Our analysis rigorously validates boundary conditions and yields a complete characterization of ZVS regions across various voltage conversion ratios. Detailed simulation validates our theoretical analysis regarding the ZVS operational boundaries.
